App Store opening tomorrow??

"Apple finally let developers know when their iPhone apps will be live on the App Store for users to download and use: around 9 am PST Thursday morning. That, at least, is when the embargo lifts and press can start writing about the specific applications. Presumably the App Store will go live, along with iPhone 2.0 software in general, around that time. "

Gizmodo is reporting that iPhone 2.0 is complete and ready to go. This is definitely good news for the July 11 th release. I doubt we'll see it any sooner than that. (of course most of us have it running on our phones already, but it would sure be nice to see the app store working!)

iPhone launching 8AM on July 11th

Rumors are coming in that the iPhone will launch at 8AM on July 11th. I have a feeling this launch will definitely require you to get on line way before 8AM. At $200/iphone I have no doubt they will be sold out QUICK.

I've been watching some apps in development. There are many out there already. The competition will be fierce. But here is a very cool and practical app: "Tube Maps". This isn't really useful for most US users, but if you live in the UK this will be very useful:

I finally released my very first version of MeMapper.com. MeMapper is a social network that uses your location based services to help you find your friends. It comes with a companion iPhone application, but I can't release it yet because the SDK is still in beta.

Check out MeMapper...you can manually change your location (until iPhone apps can be released). You can also see a small screenshot of the iPhone app on the homepage.

Apple just released the next version of their SDK. You must have the latest version of Mac OS X though...which was released today as well (10.5.3)

Campfire is a great application by 37Signals that allows collaborative chatting. The chat room has a limit of 4 people, but if people like this service I'll upgrade to their unlimited plan.

New iPhone Firmware Installed

Just installed the new firmware. Getting closer to being finished. It seems a lot more stable, and the iTunes Store link is back. The App Store button has been added. The App store doesn't work yet though (no surprise).

After playing around I found some new features:

Password fields now show you the last letter you typed for a few seconds.
Application now asks the user to allow or disallow access to the user's location (similar to how J2ME applications ask for LBS information)
